DEBORAH HARTIGAN VIESTENZ

Presently based in Dallas, Texas, Hartigan Viestenz attended Boston College, studied in London, and received her BFA from Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. An abstract expressionist artist, Deborah's works address her relationship with the natural world-physically, visually and spiritually. Collected in the US and abroad, her work is primarily commissioned by collectors, interior designers and corporate clients.

“We are touched by what we see every day: Birds, grass, trees, lakes, oceans, stones. Water on our hands and bodies. Sunlight warming our skin. Darkness making us seek light. My goal is to express the emotions of wonder and admiration of these natural elements, events and occurrences—to have the viewer experience a different way of seeing.”

In 2021, Deborah opened DHV Artworks, a 5,000-square-foot gallery in the Dallas Design District. Known by most as an artist herself, Deborah now represents select artists in her gallery. Notable corporate clients include American Airlines, Stanley Korshak, Thanksgiving Foundation and Turtle Creek Association. Hartigan Viestenz also works with many organizations in their charitable advocacy, outreach and educational endeavors.

TOM HOITSMA

Tom Hoitsma was raised in New Jersey 15 miles from New York City and pursued a fine arts degree at Skidmore College. While at Skidmore, Tom studied with world-renowned art historian and author Harry Gaugh PhD, who was integral in fostering Tom’s interest and understanding of the abstract expressionist painters.

While still attending college, Tom had the opportunity to intern with the celebrated feminist artist Miriam Schapiro. His experience with Schapiro would change the course of his work and continues to influence his painting to this day. After graduating from Skidmore, Tom worked for the prestigious Barbara Gladstone Gallery in New York City.

Working in the SOHO New York art scene of the early 1980s introduced Tom to a huge group of up and coming artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Cindy Sherman and Jenny Holtzer, all of whom showed at The Barbara Gladstone Gallery. However, his primary influences continue to be the abstract artist he was exposed to in college, under the guidance of Harry Gaugh PhD

LETICIA HERRERA

is a prize winning and published Mexican- American artist who seeks to explore what it means to be human in her art. Born in Mexico City and immigrated to the USA in 2007, she is an experienced artist with works in private collections worldwide, has shown her work internationally, Mexico, Italy, Spain and USA. Herrera is a member of several Arts Organizations and has served in the board of Directors of The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco.

“I believe in the kindness of humanity. I believe that our diversity is what makes this world interesting. I consider myself an expanding artist because I believe we are always transforming. My work walks with me and changes with me.

In my art, I represent that trajectory through my Series Walkers. They are searchers of beautiful emotions; they are travelers of the universe and the world. They are catchers of dreams; they are explorers of aspirations, searchers of unity and of freedom. Asking always who are we? Where are we going? What are we looking for? What do we want? Who do we love? In my paintings I am trying to transport you to those places of my imagination where we often find ourselves. I want to touch your soul, open your heart, and invite you to walk with me.”

WALKERS SERIES

KEN HERREN

Herren's abstract expressionist work invites the viewer into a world of riotous color and visceral experience. He first creates a deeply personal painting and then covers the work with tinted pumice. That granular surface is strategically removed by the artist to allow for a glimpse of the artist himself. Herren simultaneously explores the complexity of self-identity and human relations and challenges the viewer to sit with the tension of wanting to see more, wanting to know the "true colors," wanting to wipe away the course veneer that hides the true soul of another.

CINDY BREWER

is an abstract expression artist living in Dallas, Texas. One of twelve siblings, Brewer seeks individuality and peace in the chaos. She is married with four children and has two grandsons. She graduated with a design degree from The University of Texas in Austin and worked in the interior design industry for most of her professional career. She began painting professionally in 2011 and is recognized as an accomplished emerging artist in Dallas.

“My paintings are inspired with faith, and I create works in multiple series. They are constantly evolving, and I move from one series to another based on my emotional mood and my inspirational desire at the time. Painting abstract offers me the most freedom, whether it’s nonobjective, expressionism or representational in nature.

I began painting as an emotional outlet for self-care. Where I begin each painting depends upon the place of being I am in at that moment. Each of us faces trials and tribulations and each of our daily challenges is unique. No one really knows what another person is dealing with daily. Painting is the creative process that helps me to be positive, heal and share the beauty of art with others as it soothes my soul. The work brings truth and peace to life’s journey.”

MOTHER AND CHILD

REFLECTIONS

EBEN LEE HALL

is working artist and creative in Texas with a BFA , MFA and Certification in Art Museum Education from University of North Texas.

"My art is about a love for material, form, and process. I do not limit myself to one particular medium, but instead choose to experiment with a variety of materials including wood, steel, clay, paint, plaster, and Corian. I feel a partnership with the materials, and am energized as I see my work take shape through the processes of painting, welding, cutting, corroding, sanding, firing, and the use of CNC routers and laser cutters "

RACHEL DALY

Born and raised in Florence, Italy, Rachel was surrounded by an abundance of history, culture and the eccentricities of life in an artistic circle. After attending Wimbledon and Slade Art Foundations in London, she then furthered her education at Camberwell Art School in London.

At DHV is the "Bluesey La Rue" Series, a nostalgic nod to her childhood summers capturing the stillness, colors and sometimes loneliness of that time. Her unique technique of oil embroidery creates the illusion of woven thread.

MARGARET SCHUMACHER REHWINKEL

With a degrees from The Art Institute of Atlanta and The International Academy of Merchandise & Design in Chicago, Margaret has recently retired from her career in the commercial art, graphic and iinterior design sectors. Her decades of experience now fuel her approach to her acrylic paintings which focus on organic subjects, textiles and shapes, often featuring bold colors and designs.

ODILIA IACCARINO

Why make a collection of works about the meninas (Las Meninas) painting of the Spanish painter Diego Velasquez (1656)?

On a trip to Madrid, I was captivated by the enormous life size menina sculptures that adorned the city and by the importance of their contribution to the culture of the Spanish people. In my journey to achieve a version of Las Meninas , I created a silhouette of the modern menina figure and added colorful paint and textures into the canvas; this process brought back emotions felt while passing through the streets of Madrid. My works are an investigation into representations of (seemingly) concrete ages and situations as well as depictions and ideas that can only be realized in painting. For me, the challenge lies in exploring a balance of elements on the canvas, using primarily oil, pastels, acrylic and ink.

SCOTT VAUGHN OWEN

While pursuing a BFA from University of Montevallo, Owen began an apprenticeship with a sign maker and spent the last several decades as a designer in this field with notable success and accolades.

In 2009, Owen was able to pursue his passion and began creating artwork. Combining his skills in the commercial sign industry with his learned training in art school, he has assembled a body of work that might be described as "Picasso/Salvador Dali-esque."
